DeeAnne Snyder

DeeAnne Snyder is a native of San Diego and has been with the San Diego Convention Center Corporation since 1993. DeeAnne first came to the Convention Center as a client, organizing one of the first local consumer shows when the center opened on behalf of local publication. DeeAnne served on the then Gaslamp Merchant's Association from 1987 to 1993.
After only a year and half on the Event Service team, DeeAnne received the 1994 HSMAI, San Diego Chapter JV Cunningham Award for Excellence in Service.
In 1996 DeeAnne worked under the direction of Carol Wallace, Past President & CEO, SDCCC as the lead Event Manager dedicated to the Republican National Convention reporting directly to Ms. Wallace. Working closely with both City Officials, RNC Committee on Arrangements, vendors and media outlets.
DeeAnne received the 1997 YWCA TWIN Award, having been nominated by the Convention Center.
In 1999, DeeAnne joined the continuing education faculty at The University of San Diego, in conjunction with George Washington University Event Management Certificate Program. She taught the “Event Coordination Class” in the program. Twice during her tenure, she received the Educator of the Year for Continuing Education.
DeeAnne was honored to be chosen as the Professional Convention Management Association’s 2002 Distinguished Convention Services Manager Award at the annual convention.
In 2006, after being an event manager for 13 years, she was promoted to Director of Convention Services, a position that was newly created. DeeAnne's goal was to create a "partnership for success". Under her leadership, the team began providing "one-stop" service to customers. More importantly, her team became promotion partners for the destination, introducing meeting planners to off-site locations to enhance their events.
In March 2012, DeeAnne returned to the Event Services department to lead the team as the Director. Along with her key leadership of internal teams, she has built a solid partnership with our surrounding businesses, civic agencies and regional non-profits.
She puts her heart and soul into her work. She is the first to volunteer for employee events, tours and outreach presentations. If you are lucky enough to be on a tour she hosts, you'll walk out of Convention Center with a sense appreciation and a wealth of historical civic awareness.
DeeAnne believes in giving back to the industry. She has been a past member of the SDSU HTM Advisory Committee, The San Diego High School Hospitality and Tourism Conference, member of Toastmasters International Communication & Leadership Organization, a member of the International Association of Venue Managers, 2002 Graduate of IAVM – Public Facility Management School, Past member of the California Restaurant Association, San Diego Chapter, Education Committee. A member of PCMA and holds the designation of CMP (Certificated Meeting Planner).
Over the years, she has served on boards for various tourism-related organizations, including the Cabrillo National Park Foundation and Balboa Park Marketing Committee. She's volunteered for local charities and philanthropic organizations, including Monarch School, Neighborhood House, and Hi-Tech High. She has taught and lectured on hospitality and tourism at USD and SDSU.
