about Maren Dougherty

Maren Dougherty leads communications, marketing, and community relations for the San Diego Convention Center. Bringing more than 15 years of experience in external affairs, Maren has held leadership positions with the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles and the Balboa Park Online Collaborative in San Diego. She has written for publications such as Fodor’s Travel (San Diego guidebooks), National Geographic Adventure, New York Magazine, San Diego Magazine, and the San Diego Union-Tribune.

A graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, Maren continued her professional development through the Museum Leadership Institute and the LEAD San Diego Impact Program. She received the 2021 San Diego Public Relations Professional of the Year Award from PRSA San Diego/Imperial Counties and was named a 2022 Tribute to Women & Industry Honoree by YWCA San Diego County.

In service to our local communities, Maren serves on the Board of transcenDANCE Youth Arts Project, an organization dedicated to creative youth development in San Diego. A genuine enthusiast for all-things San Diego, she enjoys running, golfing, and spending time along our region’s 70 miles of beautiful coastline.
