about Nancy Laturno

CEO Nancy Laturno co-founded Mainly Mozart in 1988, guiding the organization’s strategic, artistic and operational development. Under Laturno’s leadership, Mainly Mozart has grown into a world-class producer of orchestral concerts, featuring the renowned Mainly Mozart All-Star Orchestra, home to the largest gathering of concertmasters and principal players in North America and according to The San Diego Reader, the orchestra "could be considered the greatest orchestra currently performing anywhere in the world." Mainly Mozart is a regional leader in chamber music concerts, international commissions, programs that explore the music-brain connection, and also boasts a 250+ student youth orchestra.

In July 2020, under Laturno’s direction, Mainly Mozart became the nation’s first major classical organization to produce live concerts for live audiences post-COVID, with a nationally recognized drive-in music series that evolved to outdoor concerts. Since that time, audiences have quadrupled. San Francisco Classical Voice recognized Mainly Mozart as "The only organization in the nation that steadfastly committed itself to presenting live performances through COVID."

Laturno has received national recognition for her cross border (US/Mexico) work, was recognized as one of Musical America Worldwide’s 2021 Professionals of the Year, and as one of San Diego Magazine's “People to Watch”.

An SDSU alumnus, she began her career in the political arena, followed by six years as San Diego Symphony Director of Marketing, and then as a Vice President of the then-United States International University, before co-founding Mainly Mozart in 1988.

Laturno is a member of Rotary, Club 33 and serves on the board of Art of Autism. In her spare time, she enjoys travel, scuba and practicing yoga.
