Patti Roscoe moved to San Diego from Buffalo, NY, in the mid-sixties and discovered a career in hospitality, spending fifteen years in the hotel and destination management segments of the industry. In 1981 she founded PRA Destination Management Company. In the mid-nineties, expansion plans led her to franchise her five Southern California offices. In 2007, she sold her then nineteen offices to a European-based company.
Patti is an active San Diego State University volunteer. She sits on The Campanile Foundation board and Executive Committee. She also sits on the Athletics Committee, Arts Committee, 125th Anniversary Advisory Board, and chairs its Stewardship Committee. She assisted in the creation of the L. Robert Payne School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and helped create and endows a professorship in SDSU’S Institute of Meetings and Events. She provides scholarships in the MFA in Musical Theatre graduate program, Hospitality & Tourism Management program, as well as an endowment for student athletes. The University has recognized her with its prestigious President’s Medal. In May of 2014, she was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters.
Patti is a member of the San Diego Police Foundation and has chaired its Women In Blue event. Girl Scouts of San Diego has named her as one of their Cool Women, and she has been a Promise Circle honoree. Patti was the first women president of the San Diego International Sports Council and served on two Super Bowl Steering Committees. She is also a Lifetime Laureate with Junior Achievement of San Diego.
Roscoe is a Plank Owner of the USS Midway, serving on its Foundation. She is a past president of the San Diego Rotary Club, and past chair of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau (now San Diego Tourism Authority). In 2017, the Events Industry Council inducted Patti into their Hall of Leaders.
She has been honored by the San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association and the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International with their highest recognition, the Gold Key Award, for outstanding contributions to the hospitality industry. She is the recipient of the Neil Morgan Visionary Award for Lifetime Achievement from LEAD/San Diego Chamber of Commerce. In 2018, she was named Ms. San Diego by the San Diego Rotary Club.
Her latest endeavor is with Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park, of which she is a Charter Member. Her favorite comic character is Wonder Woman, who has superhuman powers for doing good.
Patti and partner, Jim Tiffany, live in Bankers Hill with their very spoiled feline, the fabulous Ms. Molly.
